Summer activities in Grandvalira: Mon(t) Magic, the Soldeu Maze, e-bikes, golf and routes to Pessons. A sector-by-sector guide from Grau Roig.

Discover the best summer activities in Grandvalira for adventurers

Summer activities in Grandvalira go well beyond walking. Once the snow has gone, the resort opens its facilities with an adventure park in Canillo, a maze in Soldeu, an inflatable park in El Tarter, a golf course and a 114 km network of e-bike routes. Hotel Grau Roig sits in the Grau Roig sector, so all of this is close at hand.

The details in this article come from the resort’s official presentation of summer 2026. That season has now ended, so check the dates and programme for 2027 before you travel. The hotel is listed in the MICHELIN Guide.

Opening calendar

This was the sequence in 2026, which gives you a useful reference for planning:

  • 20 June: Grandvalira’s main attractions, including Mon(t) Magic, Golf Soldeu and much of the family and e-bike programme.
  • 4 July: the Pessons Lake refuge.
  • 11 July: Funicamp, in Encamp.
  • 13 September: the last announced day of the Soldeu Maze.

Activities listed by the hotel

On its mountain activities page, the hotel includes climbing, via ferrata, helicopter flights, horse riding, golf, Naturlandia, rafting, hiking and 4×4 and quad routes. It also mentions a 4×4 excursion with a picnic at 2,400 metres and nights in mountain refuges. To book or check availability, contact the hotel directly.

Extreme sports in Grandvalira: adrenaline and guaranteed fun

If you want something more intense than a stroll, these are the most adventurous options.

Mon(t) Magic Family Park

Located in Canillo, it is described by Visit Andorra as the largest summer activity park in the area. It has a zip line, a water area with canoes and pedal boats, and the Màgic Gliss 3D experience.

Big Jump Park

In the El Tarter sector car park, an inflatable area of more than 800 m² with jumps and circuits for families and groups.

Via ferrata and climbing

Andorra has via ferratas at various levels. If you are interested, see our guide to via ferratas in Andorra and our guide to climbing in Andorra. Always choose according to your experience.

Helicopter flight

This appears among the activities listed by the hotel, as an option to ask about. You will find more details in our article on helicopter routes.

By e-bike

The Grandvalira E-Bike Trails network reached 114 km in 2026, with 9 new kilometres and three more routes:

  • Cabirol Loop: a green, family-friendly route on the Pla d’Espiolets, with wooden games.
  • Molleres Loop: a new route in El Forn de Canillo.
  • Tamarro Flow Trail: a blue route of almost 6 km down to the base of El Tarter.

Hiking in Grandvalira: scenic routes and unforgettable landscapes

For many visitors, this is the real draw of summer. And Grau Roig has an advantage: the area’s best-known official routes start very close to the hotel, from the El Cubil car park in the same sector.

Estanys de Pessons

According to Visit Andorra, this route is 5.95 km long with 707 metres of ascent. It is rated difficult, and you should allow 3 to 6 hours. You will find more in our article on the Pessons lakes.

Portella Blanca

This is a more demanding route, of 6.94 km with 730 metres up and 315 down. It follows the track to the Pessons Lake refuge and the Estany Primer, at 2,303 metres, then climbs the GR7 to the Circ dels Colells, at 2,615 metres. It is also rated difficult, with 3 to 6 hours of walking.

Petjades Enlairades

A simpler, family-friendly option. This trail starts at Funicamp and leads to a new viewpoint beside the Ossa d’Encamp, a sculpture of about three metres, next to the Racó de Solanelles. Along the way it touches on wildlife, flora, traditional farming and a local legend, according to alto.ad.

When to walk

Visit Andorra recommends these routes from late June to late September. Depending on the weather and ground conditions, the season can run from May to October. For other options, see our guide to hiking routes in Andorra.

Guide to outdoor activities in Grandvalira: what to do and where to go

Grandvalira brings together very different sectors, each with its own character. Here is a quick guide by area.

Grau Roig

This is your starting point for Pessons. The 2026 programme added a 21-seat 4×4 vehicle linking Grau Roig with Pessons, and the Pessons Lake refuge offers a place to eat within the resort.

Soldeu

  • Soldeu Maze: made of wood, on the resort’s access platform. It takes 30 to 45 minutes and includes a treasure hunt with ten hidden clues and several puzzles.
  • Golf Soldeu: a 9-hole course at high altitude, with a floating green on its practice lake. Read our article on high mountain golf too.
  • For food and games: Wine & Meat Bar by Jean Leon and minigolf on the Petroni Terrace.

El Tarter

As well as the Big Jump Park, this is where the Tamarro Flow Trail ends.

Canillo

Mon(t) Magic and, for food, El Forn.

Encamp

Funicamp climbs to the Racó de Solanelles, with a café and restaurant at the top. Another 21-seat 4×4 vehicle links Solanelles with the Orri de Cubil.

Beyond the resort

If you are travelling with children, you could also consider Naturlandia, which the hotel includes in its list of activities. At the other end of the country, in Ordino Arcalís, is the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, which opened on 6 June in 2026 and has had more than 460,000 visitors since 2021.

Tips and recommendations for enjoying a summer in Grandvalira

Check the season

Dates vary each year and not everything opens at once: in 2026 there were three weeks between the general opening and that of Funicamp. Check the resort’s website before finalising your plans.

Plan your day by area

Getting from Canillo to Grau Roig means crossing much of the resort. Group your activities by sector to spend less time in the car.

Book third-party activities in advance

For the helicopter, the 4×4, horses or refuges, ask the hotel by phone, email or WhatsApp, the channels shown on its website.

Head back to the spa

After the mountains, the hotel spa is open from 10:00 to 21:00, with a heated pool, a sauna and a Turkish bath. Entry is free for guests, and under-16s can go in until 15:00.

Dinner without leaving the hotel

The hotel restaurants are La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Marmita, La Fromagerie and Secret Room. The cellar holds more than 300 labels, and you can have a drink in the Copper Bar or the Summer Lounge.

And if you come back in winter

The high season in Grau Roig is the ski season, from November to April. The same sectors become a ski area with 215 km of ski slopes. The hotel also lists snowshoeing, mushing, snowmobiling and ski touring.
