Luxury skiing in Grandvalira: on the slopes, with a spa and fine food
What really makes the difference on the snow
What makes luxury skiing in Grandvalira special?
Luxury skiing in Grandvalira means skiing straight from the door, having a huge ski area at your feet and ending the day in a spa and at a fine restaurant table, with no need for the car. The slopes are shared by all; the difference lies in everything else. The resort also has premium services, such as Top Class and the Mountain Club, which do change how you experience the day.
Hotel Grau Roig: right on the slopes
Hotel Grau Roig stands in the Grau Roig sector, right on the slopes. It is a 42-room boutique hotel listed in the MICHELIN Guide with One Key. Its history is tied to that of skiing in the area: the sector’s first lift was built beside the hotel in 1959, when it was a small mountain refuge. To find out what sleeping so close to the snow means in practice, read our article on ski-in ski-out in Andorra.
A ski area to match
Grandvalira was born in 2003 from the merger of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-El Tarter. According to the resort, it has 215 km, 140 runs and 7 access sectors, between 1,710 and 2,640 m in altitude. And if you want more, the wider Grandvalira Resorts group, with Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís, reaches 308 km. You will find more details in our guide to ski slopes in Andorra.
The closest thing to exclusivity on the slopes
Top Class
Top Class is the resort’s premium service: lessons with its most qualified instructors, adapted to your level, with tools such as video analysis and individual coaching. The resort’s dossier also mentions perks such as priority lift access, changing rooms, ski storage and preferential restaurant bookings. In Grau Roig, the 2025-26 season brought a larger changing room.
These services are booked directly with the resort. Check the season’s conditions and prices before booking.
Grandvalira Mountain Club
The Grandvalira Mountain Club is a membership scheme with VIP parking, private areas and personal service. These areas and services are reserved for members; the slopes remain open to all. If you ski many days a year, ask the resort directly.
A sector for every level
Grau Roig has its own personality within the ski area. Here you will find Sunrise Park Xavi, for anyone looking for jumps, and Kids Forest for the little ones, in the Coma i Piolet area. If you are travelling with children, the hotel also has a Kids Club, which gives the adults time to make the most of the morning.
After skiing: spa and food
Spa and wellness
The hotel spa has:
- Heated indoor pool
- Hot tub
- Sauna and Turkish bath
- Relaxation area, in stone and wood
- Fitness room with Technogym equipment
Entry is free for guests and the spa is open from 10.00 to 21.00; under-16s are not admitted between 15.00 and 21.00. Massages and treatments are booked separately, and the MICHELIN Guide points out that the spa is better equipped than those of many hotels of its size. If you prefer a larger thermal centre, Caldea is in Escaldes-Engordany.
Food and drink
The hotel brings together five dining spaces:
- La Vaquería: traditional mountain cooking, right on the slopes. Convenient for lunch without interrupting your day.
- El Teatro del Vino: avant-garde cooking, in a space with 10 tables.
- La Marmita: classic market-led, seasonal cooking.
- La Fromagerie: fondues and raclettes.
- Secret Room: can also be booked as a private room.
The cellar holds more than 300 wines, cavas and champagnes, and the Copper Bar is a good spot for a nightcap. There are more options in the sector, such as La Suculenta at El Cubil and the Nandu Jubany concepts at La Vacanal, Tub and Brasserie Piolet, according to the same dossier.
Activities beyond skiing
If you would rather leave the skis behind for a day, the hotel’s website lists several snow activities:
- Snowshoeing, with outings to frozen lakes.
- Mushing, on a dog sled through the valley.
- Snowmobiling, on circuits over varied terrain.
- Ski touring.
- Scenic flights and heli-skiing.
Ask the hotel about availability and conditions for each one before planning your days around it. The Roc Roi Adventure centre, in the same sector, is another useful contact.
