If you stay at Hotel Grau Roig, in Grandvalira, several of these routes are within a reasonable drive. The hotel appears in the MICHELIN Guide, with one Key. These are real routes, with their published details.
\n
1. Vall d’Incles, the closest
\n
The Incles valley, a U-shaped glacial valley between El Tarter and Canillo, is about 10 minutes by car from the hotel. It has mountain pine and fir forests, well-marked paths and a low level of difficulty. One of its routes, 2.6 kilometres long, can be done in a morning. From mid-June to early September an electric buggy runs to the head of the valley.
\n
2. Camí de les Pardines, from Engolasters
\n
It sets off from the church of Sant Miquel d’Engolasters and passes the lake, at 1,622 metres. It is 13.8 kilometres there and back, with 250 metres of cumulative ascent and 3 hours 40 minutes without stops; if you leave a car at the end, it drops to about 6.9. Scots pine predominates, with mountain pine and rhododendron towards the end, along with box, birch and willow. It includes a botanical trail with information panels.
\n
3. Vall del Madriu, the great cultural landscape
\n
The Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley is listed by UNESCO as a cultural landscape. The Huts Itinerary starts at the information point by the car park, just before Engolasters. It takes 6 hours 30 minutes without stops, with 586 metres of ascent and medium difficulty. You will find Scots pine on the sunny side, fir on the shady slopes and mountain pine between 1,700 and 2,000 metres, alongside dry-stone huts, charcoal pits, a forge and the remains of sawmills.
\n
4. Circuit de les Fonts, for taking it easy
\n
From La Comella, in Andorra la Vella, it is 3.26 kilometres, 1 hour 10 minutes and easy. It is a damp area with aspens, whitebeams and silver firs, and home to asarina, a Pyrenean endemic.
\n
5. Vall de Sorteny Nature Park
\n
In Ordino, along the CG-3 and then the CS-370 past El Serrat, this park of about 1,080 hectares brings together more than 700 plant species, over 50 of them endemic to the Pyrenees. UNESCO declared it a Biosphere Reserve in 2020, and it has themed guided routes, including one on ancient forests.
\n
6. Santa Coloma to La Margineda
\n
A short walk in Andorra la Vella: 60 minutes, 50 metres of ascent and low difficulty, among chestnuts, oaks and holm oaks. It is a good example of low-valley woodland.
\n
Essential tips for enjoying forest walks in Andorra
\n
The forest does not ask for much, but the mountains change quickly. These tips work for almost all the routes.
\n
Choose according to your time
\n
For a short outing, Incles or the Circuit de les Fonts. For a full day, the Madriu. If you are unsure, read our guide to hiking routes in Andorra. The forecast is on meteo.ad, and it is worth checking before you leave.
\n
With a guide, if you prefer
\n
The hotel has mountain guides who adapt and create routes for all levels and types of visitor. It is a good option if this is your first time in the Pyrenees. Its website also mentions a gourmet picnic at 2,400 metres, so ask about the terms when booking.
\n
Basic safety
\n
Tell someone your route, carry a charged phone and remember that the emergency number is 112. In the Madriu, watch out for vipers: look where you put your hands when leaning on stones.
\n
Respect the forest
\n
Stay on the marked path, take your rubbish with you and do not pick flowers. The poet’s narcissus, Andorra’s national flower, grows in places such as Incles. If you bring a dog, keep it under control so that it does not disturb the wildlife.
\n
A good ending
\n
Back at the hotel, the spa has a heated pool, whirlpool bath, sauna and Turkish bath, from 10 am to 9 pm, free of charge for guests. The treatment menu includes chiro-massage and foot massage, which are ideal after a walk.
\n
Benefits of forest walks: reconnect with nature in Andorra
\n
Walking among trees is one of the simplest ways to slow down. You do not need to go far or climb a peak to feel it.
\n
Switching off without effort
\n
An hour’s walk on the Circuit de les Fonts requires no special preparation. The mountain air, the sound of water and the change of pace do much of the work.
\n
Exercise that suits you
\n
With routes lasting from an hour to more than 6 hours, you can choose how much effort to put in each day. Walking uphill is also good exercise without the impact of running.
\n
All year round
\n
In spring the forest fills with green; in autumn with contrasting colours, as we explain in Andorra in autumn. In summer the shade is welcome. And in winter the snow transforms everything.
\n
Eating well on your return
\n
After a walk, La Fromagerie’s fondues and raclettes go down well, as do La Marmita’s market cooking and La Vaquería’s traditional mountain food. You will find everything on our restaurants page.
\n
Preparation and equipment for forest walks in Andorra
\n
You do not need technical gear for these walks, unless you are heading out on long routes or in winter. These are the basics.
\n
1. Clothing and footwear
\n
Breathable, quick-drying clothes and a good pair of mountain boots or shoes. Add a warm layer and a waterproof: at altitude, the weather changes fast.
\n
2. Navigation
\n
Carry a map or a route downloaded to your phone, especially in the Madriu. Tourist offices can point you in the right direction.
\n
3. Rucksack
\n
\n
Water and food: especially on long routes.
\n
Sun protection: sun cream, sunglasses and a cap.
\n
Basic first-aid kit: always worth having.
\n
\n
4. Useful accessories
\n
\n
Poles: they help on uneven ground.
\n
Binoculars: to watch wildlife without disturbing it.
\n
Camera: for the views and the flowers.
\n
\n
5. In winter
\n
From November to April, snow changes the rules. Snowshoes are the natural way to keep walking: the hotel suggests them for discovering frozen lakes. The route to the Pessons lakes, which starts from Grau Roig, can be done on snowshoes and is more demanding; check the avalanche risk and go in a group. In Incles, roads close during heavy snowfall, although many areas remain accessible on foot.
\n
Discover the flora and fauna on your forest walks in Andorra
\n
Part of the interest of these walks lies in what you see and hear along the way. Keep your eyes open.
\n
Trees by altitude
\n
On the valley floors, holm oaks, oaks, chestnuts and hazels dominate. Higher up comes Scots pine, especially on sunny slopes, and fir on the shady ones, often with rhododendron in the understorey. Between 1,700 and 2,000 metres, mountain pine takes over. On the fir branches in the Madriu you will see the lichens known as old man’s beard.
\n
Flowers
\n
Poet’s narcissus, lilies, gentians, broom and rhododendron grow in Incles. In Sorteny, the diversity is far greater, with more than 700 species.
\n
Wildlife
\n
In Incles you may see vultures, bearded vultures and golden eagles, as well as marmots, newts and common frogs near the water, plus squirrels and roe deer. Sorteny is home to chamois, roe deer, marmots, martens and wild boar. In the Madriu, there are foxes, chamois and boar, whose tracks you may find.
\n
How to observe wildlife
\n
Set out early, walk quietly and use binoculars. For more context, Sorteny runs guided excursions all year round, on birds, butterflies and wetlands, among other topics. Its mountain hut, the Borda de Sorteny, opens in winter and summer and serves meals.
\n","categories":[{"id":"0e8c2633-22cd-52a4-8bfe-e028a5ba997f","name":"Culture","slug":"culture","parentElement":null},{"id":"425a3962-c27d-569c-ae7b-a85f0e6bb381","name":"Adventure","slug":"adventure","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"Incles, Madriu, Pardines, Les Fonts and Sorteny, with details and tips","lead":"Forest walks in Andorra: real routes in Incles, Madriu, Pardines and Sorteny, with distances, flora, fauna and walking tips.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"c0de867b-2b18-5e91-8892-ab0861b4fa02","path":"/en/rock-art-andorra/","title":"Rock paintings in Andorra: engravings and ancient art in the Pyrenees","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
History and discovery of rock paintings in Andorra
\n
If you are looking for rock paintings in Andorra, it helps to start with what is actually there: what is documented in the country are rock engravings, not paintings. They are incisions in the stone, most of them medieval and some older, even Neolithic. To see genuine prehistoric painting you need to cross to the French side, to the Niaux cave. Both can be visited from Hotel Grau Roig, in Grandvalira, which appears in the MICHELIN Guide with one Key.
\n
Most Andorran engravings are found in the country’s two main valleys. The magazine World Archaeology covered them in 2012 and highlighted three groups: Roc de les Bruixes, Sornàs and Sant Cerni de Nagol.
\n
The oldest traces in the country
\n
Human presence in Andorra goes back long before these engravings. The La Margineda rock shelter, excavated between 1979 and 1991, was occupied from the Mesolithic and Neolithic through to historical times. No engravings are recorded in that shelter, but it gives a sense of how long people have lived in these valleys.
\n
What we still do not know
\n
That source gives no precise dates for each group, and some interpretations remain open. So go without expecting a museum: they are marks in the rock, sometimes discreet, and part of their interest lies in everything we do not know about them.
\n
Cultural and archaeological importance of rock paintings in the Pyrenees
\n
The Pyrenees hold some of Europe’s finest examples of Palaeolithic art, above all on the French side. In Andorra the interest is different: the engravings show how the land has been marked over the centuries, from prehistory to the Middle Ages.
\n
Niaux: cave art across the border
\n
The Niaux cave, in Ariège, is one of Europe’s best-known Palaeolithic sites and one of the few decorated caves still open to the public. Its paintings are roughly 17,000 to 11,000 years old and belong to the Magdalenian period. They are concentrated in the Salon Noir, a large chamber about 700 metres from the entrance, with bison, horses, ibex and deer.
\n
A distinctive medieval mark
\n
The engravings at Roc de les Bruixes are interesting for another reason: they portray 13th-century warriors with very specific weaponry. They may reflect the conflicts of the time in these valleys, before the pariatges signed between 1278 and 1288, the agreements at the root of present-day Andorra.
\n
A cultural landscape
\n
The Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley, a World Heritage site, helps complete the picture. It is not an engraving site but a cultural landscape with settlements and farming terraces that explain how people have lived here.
\n
Other cultural visits
\n
To understand the country’s history better, you can move on to its Romanesque sacred art, its castles and defensive architecture or the Casa Cristo Ethnographic Museum in Encamp.
\n
Main places to see rock art in Andorra
\n
These are the sites backed by documentation. Apart from La Margineda, they are not museum spaces, so ask at a tourist office before going: (+376) 750 100 or info@oficinaturisme.ad.
\n
Roc de les Bruixes, in Prats (Canillo)
\n
This is the most interesting group. It lies on the vertical wall separating two terraces, over about 2 square metres. You can see two horses with riders, four complete warriors on foot, three incomplete ones and other figures, along with inscribed crosses, pentagrams and traces of writing. The adjoining terraces have schematic prehistoric engravings. It is reached by the road from Canillo to Prats, and it is a good idea to ask in the village, as it is easy to get lost.
\n
Sornàs (Ordino)
\n
Near Ordino, Sornàs shows a series of anthropomorphic crosses, that is, crosses with human features.
\n
Sant Cerni de Nagol (Sant Julià de Lòria)
\n
In the south of the country, near Sant Julià, this group is known for its cryptographic graffiti, among the most curious engravings in Andorra.
\n
La Margineda archaeological site
\n
In Santa Coloma, Andorra la Vella, this is the country’s largest archaeological site. It has no rock art, but it is the most complete archaeological visit: about 4,000 square metres, open since 2012, with five periods of occupation from the Bronze Age to the late 19th century. A settlement from the 12th to 14th centuries stands out. Guided summer visits require advance booking. Admission: 5 euros from 12 to 65, 3 euros for over-65s and Carnet Jove holders, and free for under-12s.
\n
From the hotel
\n
The reward for a day of sightseeing is the return to Grau Roig: the spa is open until 9 pm, with a heated pool, whirlpool bath, sauna and Turkish bath, and you can dine in any of its restaurants: La Vaquería, La Marmita, La Fromagerie, El Teatro del Vino or Secret Room.
\n
Techniques and styles of rock art in the Pyrenees
\n
Painting and engraving look quite different on the ground. Knowing what to look for changes the visit a great deal.
\n
Schematic engraving
\n
The medieval engravings at Roc de les Bruixes are drawn in a schematic style. The warrior figures are built from two opposing triangles, the lower one with strokes suggesting a skirt. The dating to the second half of the 13th century relies on the weaponry, such as the cylindrical helmet and the sword with cross and pommel, and on their similarity to the engravings at Castellfollit de Riubregós (Anoia).
\n
A scene open to interpretation
\n
It is not known whether it shows an idealised scene or a real event. One theory links it to the clashes between the Count of Foix, Roger Bernat III, and the Bishop of Urgell, Pere d’Urtx. Another places it closer to Arnau de Castellbò, in the late 12th or early 13th century. Behind one of the riders is a structure that could be a tower, and at the top right, a pentagon that may be a solar symbol.
\n
The paintings at Niaux
\n
At Niaux the style is Magdalenian: black outlines, some red in certain signs and the stone background left uncoloured. Bison dominate; the bison panel is dated to about 13,000 years ago. The horses have painted coats and resemble Przewalski’s horse.
\n
Two ways of seeing
\n
In painting, colour and volume; in engraving, line and light. That is why engravings are best seen in raking light, first or last thing in the day, and why it is worth taking your time, always without touching them.
\n
Conservation and protection of prehistoric art in Andorra
\n
The engravings are in the open air and fragile. Niaux, for its part, limits visits precisely to protect the cave. Here is how to visit all this with respect.
\n
When visiting engravings
\n
\n
Do not touch or trace the rock: friction and contact damage it.
\n
Do not use chalk or water to highlight the lines.
\n
Respect the terraces and stone walls: they are part of the whole.
\n
\n
Booking Niaux
\n
Online booking is compulsory, as visitor numbers and duration are limited for conservation. The tour is guided, by lamplight, along an uneven path of about 700 metres. It is not recommended for people with reduced mobility, and children under 5 cannot enter. For them, and for anyone wanting to round off the visit, the Prehistory Park at Tarascon-sur-Ariège has a replica of the Salon Noir.
\n
How to fit it into your trip
\n
For the engravings, summer or autumn is best, with no snow. Combine Prats with a walk along the historic trails and leave Niaux for a full day, checking opening times on its website first.
\n
If you come in winter
\n
November to April is ski season, and the obvious plan is to ski in Grandvalira, with its 215 kilometres of slopes, and keep a museum for a bad-weather day. If you cross into France, remember that in Andorra special equipment is compulsory from 1 November to 15 May, and check mobilitat.ad before setting off.
\n","categories":[{"id":"0e8c2633-22cd-52a4-8bfe-e028a5ba997f","name":"Culture","slug":"culture","parentElement":null},{"id":"425a3962-c27d-569c-ae7b-a85f0e6bb381","name":"Adventure","slug":"adventure","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"What is really in Andorra and where to see prehistoric painting nearby","lead":"Rock paintings in Andorra: the real engravings at Roc de les Bruixes, Sornàs and Nagol, and how to see Palaeolithic art at Niaux.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"208ce7c1-0f0d-56d4-b2f1-c6ce42a0b87c","path":"/en/off-road-routes-andorra/","title":"Off-road routes in Andorra: real 4×4 itineraries in the Pyrenees","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
Off-road routes in Andorra: what to know before you set off
\n
Off-road routes in Andorra are a good way to reach high-mountain scenery without walking for hours, but you should have realistic expectations: the tracks have owners, many are regulated, and the simplest option is to go with a local company familiar with the permits. Hotel Grau Roig, which features in the MICHELIN Guide, lists 4×4 and quad routes among its summer mountain activities, so you can start by asking at the hotel itself.
\n
Why go with a guide
\n
In Andorra, a track that is open today may have limited access tomorrow. A local driver knows which stretches can be driven that season, which permits are needed and what to do if the weather changes. You are also spared the driving, and on a mountain track that means you can actually look at the scenery.
\n
Companies operating in the country
\n
Two names appear on the main activity portals: 4×4 Andorra, based in Ordino, and Mushing Pirineus, in La Massana. Before booking, confirm the route, duration and meeting point, as these can change with the season and access rules.
\n
What is usually included
\n
The offers we checked include the vehicle, a guide and pick-up from your accommodation or transport to the starting point. Lunch usually costs extra. Also ask about insurance and the cancellation policy for bad weather.
\n
The real 4×4 routes: Pic Negre and the Smugglers’ Route
\n
From La Rabassa to Pic Negre
\n
This is the best-known route in the south of the country. According to the Mushing Pirineus listing, it leaves from Sant Julià de Lòria and covers 39 km, 80% of it off tarmac, over about five hours. It passes through La Rabassa, follows a forest track to the Bescaran viewpoint and makes the final climb to the summit. The views take in Pic de l’Orri del Pallars, Pic de Carroi, the Perafita valley and Claror. On the way back there is a stop at Spanish Civil War bunkers. 4×4 Andorra offers a similar version, lasting about four and a half hours.
\n
The Smugglers’ Route
\n
This is the most historic route. The 4×4 Andorra version lasts about three hours, covers around 46 km and starts at Port de Cabús. If you are interested in the background, read the smugglers’ legacy in Andorra and our post on the smugglers’ route by 4×4.
\n
Note a recent change: in August 2026, the owners of the mountain of Tor banned visitors coming from Andorra from using the private track between Port de Cabús and Tor. The CG-4 road up to the pass remains paved and open, and the village can be reached from Alins via the valley. Before booking, ask the company exactly where its current itinerary goes.
\n
Port de Cabús
\n
If you only want to drive up to this 2,328 m border pass for the scenery, you do not need a 4×4: the Andorran side is paved. The unpaved track is on the Spanish side. The pass is normally open from May to October.
\n
Vehicles: what to expect
\n
Forget about choosing a model. What you will find are working vehicles prepared for tracks, and that is exactly what you want on a stony road.
\n
With an operator
\n
The listings we checked mention off-road vehicles with up to seven seats, such as the seven-seat Mitsubishi cited by 4×4 Andorra. That makes them a good fit for families or small groups. Mushing Pirineus accepts children from the age of two on its route, and 4×4 Andorra has children’s versions for under-14s.
\n
In your own car or a hire car
\n
This is where you need to be most careful. In Sant Julià de Lòria, the high-mountain areas of Claror, Camp Ramonet, Port Negre and Coll de Finestres have regulated access, and foreign-plated and hire cars cannot enter without express permission from the Comú. Offences carry fines of 50 to 3,000 euros. If you would like to drive mountain roads without complications, see our suggestion for driving Andorra’s mountain passes, always on tarmac.
\n
For vehicles that may enter, the Comú sells a daily ticket of 26 euros per car at its Tràmits service, at the Plaça Laurèdia tourist office or at the barrier hut, where a guard checks access. The rule comes from a 2024 ordinance, and in 2026 access reopened on 8 June.
\n
Essential tips for enjoying your off-road route
\n
Choose the right season
\n
4×4 Andorra offers its smugglers’ route from May to November, and Sant Julià’s regulated access runs from June until November or December, depending on the weather. In practice, this is a summer and autumn activity.
\n
Get ready for the track
\n
\n
Comfortable clothes in layers. It is colder at high altitude and you will feel the wind.
\n
Closed-toe shoes. This is what the companies ask for, and you will need them at the stops.
\n
Documents. Bring your passport or ID, especially if the route goes near the border.
\n
Motion sickness. If you get car sick easily, say so and ask to sit in the front.
\n
\n
Respect the terrain
\n
Stay on authorised tracks, do not disturb livestock and close any gates behind you. The current restrictions stem partly from the pressure of vehicles on the mountain.
\n
Combine it with another activity
\n
If you want to fill the day, 4×4 Andorra offers a package of about six and a half hours that combines the off-road tour with the Berros canyon descent in Llavorsí, and the portals also list combinations with rafting. According to Visit Andorra, car access to the valley closes in summer and you can get there by electric buggy. From there, the walking route leads to the Juclà lakes and mountain hut, which is staffed in summer. You will find more in our post on the Incles valley.
\n
Pessons lakes
\n
The walk starts almost at the hotel’s door, and you do not need a vehicle. The Pessons lakes are the easiest way to see high mountains without getting in the car.
\n
Winter activities
\n
In winter, the high season at Grau Roig, the tracks lie under snow and the plan changes completely. That is the time for skiing in Grandvalira, and if you want motorised adventure on the snow, there are snowmobiles and mushing.
\n
Back at the hotel
\n
After a day on the tracks, the hotel spa offers a sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, pool and treatments. For dinner you can choose from La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Marmita, La Fromagerie or Secret Room, and in summer there is the Summer Lounge for a drink outdoors.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"","lead":"Off-road routes in Andorra: Pic Negre, the Smugglers' Route and Port de Cabús, which tracks are regulated, which companies to use and when to go.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"aae62c76-43a7-5399-af8d-ddd9b88b605e","path":"/en/ski-touring-andorra/","title":"Randonnée in Andorra: ski touring guide and best routes","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
What is randonnée?
\n
Randonnée, or ski touring, means climbing the mountain on skis that let you walk uphill and then descending through untracked snow. It is worth distinguishing it from ski mountaineering proper: according to Ordino Arcalís, on a tour you keep your skis on the whole time, while ski mountaineering takes place on harder terrain, with sections on foot that call for rope technique and knowledge of snow safety.
\n
The sport is enjoying a high point: skimo made its debut at the 2026 Winter Olympics, and Andorra has been hosting top-level events for years.
\n
Equipment for randonnée
\n
To go ski touring in Andorra you need specific gear:
\n
\n
Touring skis: designed for going up and down on snowy terrain.
\n
Touring bindings: they free your heel for walking and lock it for the descent.
\n
Touring boots: comfortable for walking, with enough control for skiing.
\n
Climbing skins: they stick to the base of the ski to give you grip on the way up.
\n
Transceiver, shovel and probe: your avalanche safety kit, which you must know how to use before setting off.
\n
\n
The best randonnée routes in Andorra
\n
Andorra has routes for different levels. If you are staying around Grau Roig, two of Visit Andorra’s official routes are right on your doorstep:
\n
\n
Grau Roig – Engaït: 8.71 km with 746 m of ascent, moderate difficulty. It starts from the El Cubil car park and runs through a very rocky high mountain setting, between the Negre d’Envalira and La Menera. At the Portella de Joan Antoni, views open up over the La Llosa valley and, in the distance, the Serra del Cadí.
\n
Pic de Montmalús (2,781 m): 5 km with 671 m of ascent, moderate difficulty, with about 2 h 15 min going up and 1 h coming down. It starts from the Grau Roig car park and the descent follows the face overlooking the Pessons lakes.
\n
Ordino Arcalís routes: La Coma, Les Portelles, Pic de Peyreguills, L’Hortell and La Font are marked, maintained routes of varying levels, accessed with the resort’s Mountain Pass. They are a good option if you would like to start on more controlled terrain.
\n
Coma Pedrosa: Andorra’s highest mountain, with superb views. This is an objective for experienced skiers.
\n
\n
If you are after something more ambitious, the ski mountaineering guidebook by Patric Perisse, a high mountain guide, covers more than 100 routes in 9 areas and describes the Tour of Andorra on skis in 6 stages.
\n
Skimo competitions in Andorra
\n
The Grau Roig sector is a regular competition venue. The Dynafit Andorra Skimo was held on 21 and 22 February 2026, in pairs, starting in Grau Roig for the Skimo 6, 8 and 10 formats. The Skimo 6 enters the Madriu-Perafita-Claror valley and the Skimo 10 takes in the Pessons glacial cirque. Arinsal, for its part, hosted the ISMF Comapedrosa World Cup in January 2024.
\n
FAQs about randonnée in Andorra
\n
Do I need previous alpine skiing experience?
\n
Yes. You need to ski confidently in order to descend off-piste safely, especially on terrain with avalanche risk. If you are coming from piste skiing, start on marked routes.
\n
When is the best time for randonnée in Andorra?
\n
Winter, when there is enough snow, with the ski season as your guide. Bear in mind that the period of highest avalanche risk runs from December to March, so check the weather and warnings before every outing.
\n
Do I need to hire a guide for randonnée in Andorra?
\n
If you are a beginner or do not know the area, it is advisable. A mountain guide will help you choose the route and assess the conditions. Remember that outside regulated areas, Andorran law places safety and rescue outside the resort’s responsibility. Ski mountaineering is among the hotel’s snow activities, so you can ask about options when you book.
\n
Where should I stay for randonnée?
\n
Grau Roig puts the El Cubil and resort car parks close at hand, and with them the first two routes above. Hotel Grau Roig features in the MICHELIN Guide and has a spa and its own restaurants in which to recover after a day on the snow. It needs silence, a good spa, sound sleep, good food and high-mountain air. That is what you get at Hotel Grau Roig, a boutique hotel and spa in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira that appears in the MICHELIN Guide, with one Key. You decide how many days and in what combination: here is what is on offer.
\n
A spa of stone and wood
\n
The hotel spa has a heated pool, a whirlpool bath, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a relaxation area, decorated in stone and wood, with soft lighting and pleasant music. It is open from 10 am to 9 pm and entry is free for hotel guests.
\n
Body and mind, at your own pace
\n
The basis of your retreat is the treatment menu, booked separately, plus free time for the water circuit. If you want some exercise, the fitness room has Technogym machines and is open 24 hours a day.
\n
Eating well
\n
The restaurants work with high-quality produce and the flavours of the Pyrenees. La Marmita focuses on market-led, seasonal cooking, a sensible choice if you would like something lighter after the spa. There are also La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Fromagerie and Secret Room.
\n
Sleeping in the mountains
\n
There are five types of room: Auténtica, Superior, Romántica, Junior Suite and Suite Deluxe. The property began as a mountain refuge, became a refuge hotel in 1974 and has belonged to the Sans Marfany family since 1986. That origin shows in the materials: stone, wood and calm.
\n
The great outdoors
\n
A retreat here also means getting outdoors. The route to the Pessons lakes starts from the Grau Roig car park, and the hotel has mountain guides who adapt routes to all levels. In winter, snow changes the plan, but not the idea.
\n
Health and relaxation services and treatments at Hotel Grau Roig
\n
The Hotel Grau Roig treatment menu can be downloaded from the spa’s website. It is worth looking at it before you come so that you can book in good time. These are the main categories.
\n
Massages
\n
The relaxation massage with aromatherapy uses essential oils. The chiro-massage, deep and either general or localised, works on muscle knots and aches, which is very useful after skiing or walking. The cranial and foot massage focuses on the head and feet. Lymphatic drainage helps eliminate fluids and soothes the nervous system. And the 360º Scens Experience Massage is a full muscle-release massage of the body, face and scalp with cannabis, arnica, patchouli and clove oils. There is also a children’s massage, up to the age of 15.
\n
Back and exfoliation
\n
A Healthy Back combines exfoliation and a remineralising wrap, a cranial massage and a back-release massage. Body exfoliation and hydration uses various salts with essential oils to restore the skin’s elasticity and luminosity.
\n
Holistic therapy and Ayurveda
\n
Holistic kinesiology seeks to reduce stress and rebalance the different systems: physical, mental, energetic and nervous. For Ayurveda, the menu includes the Padabhyanga foot massage, the great Marmabhyanga Ayurvedic massage, very relaxing and regenerating, and Heart and Soul (Kerala Abhyangam), a full-body massage that includes the abdomen and chest.
\n
Rituals
\n
Balinese Dream combines body and facial exfoliation with a massage using warm aromatic oils. The Grau Roig Luxury Experience brings together a body peel, a full massage and facial work. Hydra Intense Ritual is a facial and body ritual with ultra-nourishing active ingredients. And Body Remodelling for a Perfect Silhouette includes lymphatic drainage.
\n
Facials
\n
Botanical Facial Express uses organic and vegan products. Eternal Antiage Experience is a rejuvenating, firming facial with Kobido massage. The Oxygenating Facial is an ultra-detox ritual for dull skin. And Kobido Japanese Facial Lifting is an activating massage with serums and creams. Add-ons include face and eye masks.
\n
Benefits of choosing a wellness retreat at Hotel Grau Roig
\n
Choosing a wellness retreat at Grau Roig has more to do with the place than with any programme. These are the reasons that count.
\n
Altitude and a true break
\n
The hotel stands in the heart of the Grandvalira ski area, in the high mountains, away from the traffic of the valley’s urban centres.
\n
A spa with everything to hand
\n
You do not need to get in the car: you go from your room to the spa, and from the spa to dinner. That convenience is what turns a few days into genuine rest. If you are travelling with children, 10 am to 3 pm is the Kids Friendly period; from 3 pm to 9 pm under-16s are not allowed in, which those seeking calm will appreciate.
\n
Summer outdoors
\n
In the summer season, the Summer Lounge adds loungers for reading, fresh juices and cocktails, and an outdoor hot-water jacuzzi for up to 8 people.
\n
Combine it with Caldea
\n
If you also want thermal waters, Caldea, the thermal leisure centre in Escaldes-Engordany that opened in 1994, has an adults-only area, Inúu, and a panoramic lagoon. It makes a perfect half-day outing. For a broader view, read our guide to Andorra as a wellness destination.
\n
Unique experiences at Hotel Grau Roig’s luxury wellness retreats
\n
Here are some ideas for building your days. They are suggestions; you set the pace.
\n
A winter retreat
\n
Winter is Grau Roig’s high season, from November to April. In the morning, ski in Grandvalira, with its 215 kilometres of slopes; in the afternoon, a chiro-massage and the water circuit. If you do not ski, snowshoe outings lead to frozen lakes, and mushing, on a dog sled, is a quiet ride through the valley.
\n
A summer retreat
\n
Walk early, eat late and spend the afternoon at the Summer Lounge. The hotel has guides who adapt routes: if you have no mountain experience, that is the best approach for the Pessons route, with 5.95 kilometres and 707 metres of ascent. After the effort, lymphatic drainage or a foot massage is a natural choice.
\n
A weekend for two
\n
Several treatments on the menu can be taken in a duo cabin. With the Romántica room, a Balinese Dream ritual and dinner at El Teatro del Vino, with its cellar of more than 300 labels, you have a complete plan.
\n
Dinner and a drink
\n
If you prefer something informal after the spa, La Fromagerie serves fondues and raclettes. To finish the day, the Copper Bar.
\n
Book your luxury wellness retreat at Hotel Grau Roig
\n
A few practical details will spare you any surprises when booking.
\n
Booking treatments
\n
Treatments are booked through the link on the spa’s website. If you cancel on the same day or do not show up, a charge of 100% of the treatment applies. In high season it is best to book ahead.
\n
Health and pregnancy
\n
When you book, tell the spa team about any health condition, allergy or injury. The menu shows which treatments are suitable for pregnant women, so check it first.
\n
Children
\n
The minimum age for the spa is 16, except during Kids Friendly hours, from 10 am to 3 pm, when under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. The hotel also has a Kids Club.
\n
Getting here
\n
If you are driving between 1 November and 15 May, special equipment is compulsory across Andorra’s entire road network. Check mobilitat.ad before setting off.
\n
Contact
\n
For any questions about your stay, you can write to info@hotelgrauroig.com or call +376 75 55 56.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"Spa, treatments, mountains and good food to build your own break","lead":"Luxury wellness retreats in Andorra: spa, massages and rituals from the menu, mountains and food at Hotel Grau Roig, at your pace.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"40006d91-015d-52b5-ad30-b278dc497dd8","path":"/en/caves-andorra/","title":"Caves in and around Andorra: what you can actually visit","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
Caves in Andorra: what is really there
\n
If you are looking for caves to visit in Andorra, start with the key point: we have found no show cave in the country with lighting and regular tours. What Andorra does have is rock shelters of archaeological value and an underground history tied more to iron than to stalactites. The big show caves are across the border in the French Ariège, with a more modest one in Cerdanya. From Hotel Grau Roig, which features in the MICHELIN Guide, the natural way into France goes through Pas de la Casa, so Ariège makes a reasonable day trip.
\n
La Balma de la Margineda
\n
This is the country’s best-known prehistoric site: a rock shelter rather than a deep cave, excavated between 1979 and 1991. According to Current World Archaeology, it was occupied in the Mesolithic and Neolithic and remained in use in historic times. Think of it as a point of historical interest and, if you want to see it, ask at the tourist office first.
\n
La Margineda archaeological site
\n
Very close by, in Santa Coloma, you can visit the La Margineda archaeological site. It is not a cave but an open-air settlement of 4,000 m², with traces from the Bronze Age to the late 19th century and a cluster of houses from the 12th to 14th centuries. In summer, guided visits must be booked in advance on (+376) 750 100. If this appeals to you, continue with Andorra’s rock engravings.
\n
The caves you can visit near Andorra
\n
These are all in France, and the Ariège tourist board places them less than 30 minutes from Foix.
\n
Niaux Cave
\n
This is the benchmark. Its Salon Noir holds more than 70 animal figures, including bison, horses, ibex and deer, dated to between 17,000 and 16,000 years ago. Entry is by guided tour only, with mandatory advance booking, in groups of up to 25 people. It lasts about 105 minutes, begins with an 800-metre walk and has no spotlights: you walk with handheld lamps. It is about 12 °C inside, so bring walking shoes and warm clothes.
\n
Lombrives Cave
\n
It lies at Ussat, near Tarascon-sur-Ariège, and is presented as one of the largest in Europe. The guided tour lasts about two hours and ends at an underground lake. From the ticket office it is 1.4 km to the entrance, on foot or by tourist train. It also has a long history: prehistoric shelter, Bronze Age burial place and a visit from Henri IV in 1578.
\n
Labouiche underground river
\n
Near Foix, you travel by boat through galleries carved into the rock. It is an unusual and easy outing for families, although there are steps at the entrance and the ceiling is low in places.
\n
Other caves in Ariège
\n
Le Mas-d’Azil cave can be combined with its Museum of Prehistory, which displays objects found during excavations. Bédeilhac stands out for its vast natural chambers, and in Tarascon-sur-Ariège the Prehistory Park has a facsimile of Niaux, useful if you cannot get a place.
\n
Anes Cave, in Cerdanya
\n
To the south, between Prullans and Bellver de Cerdanya, Anes Cave has more than 300 metres of wide gallery and stalagmites up to about 10 metres tall. It is not a tourist site: you climb a steep path of about 600 metres and must bring a helmet and a torch. If you have no experience, go with a qualified caving guide.
\n
Equipment and safety
\n
In show caves
\n
Closed-toe shoes and a warm layer are enough, because the temperature inside is low all year round. Buy your ticket online in advance: it is mandatory at Niaux and strongly recommended at Lombrives.
\n
In undeveloped caves
\n
Here the risk is real. You need a helmet, two light sources, clothes you do not mind getting dirty, and someone who knows your plan. Do not enter unknown cavities or go in when rain is forecast.
\n
How to plan the trip from Grau Roig
\n
When to go and what to check first
\n
Check each cave’s opening times, as they vary with the season. In winter, the high season at Grau Roig, check the road conditions before crossing through Pas de la Casa, and keep the cave for a day off skiing. You will find more ideas in the road to France.
\n
When you get back
\n
After a day in the chill underground, the hotel spa, with its sauna, Turkish bath and jacuzzi, is just what you want. And if you would rather stay in Andorra that day, things to do in Andorra has plenty of other options, from via ferratas to museums.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"","lead":"Caves in and near Andorra: what you can really visit, from La Margineda rock shelter to Niaux, Lombrives and Labouiche, with tips for the day trip.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"97b40cc2-968d-5f1d-9dd4-dfbed6b0388a","path":"/en/heli-skiing-andorra/","title":"Heli-skiing in Andorra: what it is, where to do it and how to prepare","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
What is heli-skiing in Andorra?
\n
Heli-skiing in Andorra means taking a helicopter up to a Pyrenean summit and skiing or snowboarding down through off-piste terrain, far from the lifts and marked runs. It is aimed at people who already handle untracked snow with confidence and want to reach slopes that cannot be accessed any other way. In Andorra it takes place in two ski areas, Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís, always in small groups and with a guide.
\n
Hotel Grau Roig sits in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira, right on the snow, and features in the MICHELIN Guide. Heli-skiing appears among the snow activities listed by the hotel, so you can ask about it when planning your stay.
\n
What makes it special
\n
The difference is access. The helicopter saves you the hours of climbing that a ski tour involves and puts you straight at the top, with untouched snow ahead of you. In return, you are moving through unmarked, unprotected terrain, and that calls for a level of skill and preparation that cannot be improvised. That is why it is worth reading what follows before you book.
\n
The best heli-skiing routes in Andorra
\n
Each outing depends on the snow and the weather, and it is the guide who decides where the group skis down. These are the main areas.
\n
Grandvalira
\n
Visit Andorra lists heli-skiing in Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís, in areas suited to freeride. Grandvalira also has a flight base within the ski area. If you are staying in Grau Roig, this is the closest option, and you can spend the rest of the day on the Grandvalira ski slopes.
\n
Ordino Arcalís
\n
This is the area whose descents are described in the most detail. Ordino Arcalís names as starting points the summits of Font Blanca, les Fonts, l’Hortell, Besalí and the cap de les Aspres de Banyell. The terrain combines open and demanding slopes, descents through forest, steep pitches and gentler areas. The helicopter takes skiers from the resort up to the summit and, at the end, everyone returns to the resort.
\n
Session format
\n
Sessions are organised into 2, 4 or 6 ascents and descents, in groups of 4 to 8 people, with an expert guide who stays with the group at all times and monitors the weather and safety. If it is your first time, a short session lets you see how you feel on this kind of terrain before considering a longer one.
\n
Preparation and equipment for heli-skiing in Andorra
\n
Required level
\n
This is not an activity for all abilities. It is aimed at experienced skiers who have already skied off-piste. The guide leads you and looks after the group, but is not there to teach you to ski: you need to bring the technique with you.
\n
Prior training
\n
Ordino Arcalís recommends going through its freeride school first so that you can do the activity safely. If your off-piste experience is limited, this is the logical step: a few lessons will make you more comfortable in untracked snow and with your safety equipment. Another way of building experience is ski touring in Andorra, which forces you to learn to read the terrain.
\n
Safety equipment and skis
\n
You must carry a helmet, avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe, and know how to use them. The Ordino Arcalís freeride school provides rucksacks with the full kit during its courses. For the descent, freeride skis or a snowboard, wider than piste models, are the right choice. When you book, confirm what the session includes and what you have to bring yourself. The hotel offers ski hire, so ask there about the availability of freeride equipment.
\n
The helicopter flight
\n
The operator in Andorra is Heliand, a company founded in 1987 and based at the Terra Guindaldes heliport in La Massana. As well as its commercial flights, which include heli-skiing, it carries out rescue and emergency work for the Government. If you would like to fly without skis, the hotel also lists panoramic flights, and our article on helicopter routes over the Andorran Pyrenees has more ideas.
\n
Where to stay
\n
Staying at Grau Roig puts you in the heart of the mountains and right on the snow when the day begins. Have a look at the advantages of ski-in ski-out if you also want to make the most of the slopes on days without a flight.
\n
Safety tips for heli-skiing in Andorra
\n
Off-piste skiing carries real risks, and you should understand them before you board the helicopter.
\n
1. Prepare in advance
\n
Practise searching with your transceiver, shovel and probe before the trip, not on the day itself. Check your fitness too: several descents in a row through deep snow are more tiring than they seem, and the fatigue tells above all towards the end.
\n
2. Check the avalanche risk
\n
The highest-risk period in Andorra runs from December to March, and conditions can change quickly after a snowfall. In January 2026, for example, the risk reached level 4 above 2,100 metres. Follow the official warnings and listen to your guide if they decide to change area or cancel.
\n
3. Always go with a guide
\n
Both Visit Andorra and Ordino Arcalís present the activity as guided by a professional. Your guide chooses the descent according to conditions and sets the route down, so follow their instructions even if you spot a tempting line nearby.
\n
4. Be clear about who is responsible off-piste
\n
Andorra’s Law 21/2022 on mountain resorts is very clear: in the unregulated area, which includes off-piste zones, safety and rescue are not the resort’s responsibility. Responsibility for a user’s actions lies with that person or with their guide or instructor. Mountain rescue is carried out by the Mountain Rescue Group of the Andorran fire service, on call 24 hours a day, and a helicopter rescue may be charged for in cases of gross negligence or lack of proper equipment. That is why it is worth travelling with insurance that expressly covers off-piste skiing and rescue.
\n
5. Rest after the activity
\n
After a day like this, your body will be ready to stop. At the hotel you can recover in the spa with its pool and sit down to dinner without leaving the hotel: La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Marmita or La Fromagerie, with a cellar of more than 300 labels. The Copper Bar is a good place to round off the day.
\n
Booking your heli-skiing adventure in Andorra: what you need to know
\n
Availability depends on the season, the snow and the weather, so it is best to enquire well ahead. Before you commit to anything, we recommend clarifying these points:
\n
\n
Starting point and planned area for the day.
\n
Number of ascents and descents, and group size.
\n
What equipment is included and what you need to bring.
\n
What happens if the flight is cancelled because of the weather.
\n
What your insurance covers and whether it is required for flying.
\n
\n
You can ask the hotel for information by phone (+376 75 55 56), by email (info@hotelgrauroig.com) or on WhatsApp.
\n
Other snow activities to round off your trip
\n
If not everyone in your group skis off-piste, or if the helicopter cannot fly one day, there is plenty more to do around the hotel: skiing in Grandvalira, snowshoeing, mushing and snowmobiling are among the winter activities on the hotel’s list.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"Untracked snow, small groups and expert guides in the Pyrenees","lead":"Heli-skiing in Andorra: Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís areas, required level, safety gear and what to know before booking your outing.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"e328035a-bcf7-5f17-8092-a87dee062f6f","path":"/en/luxury-skiing-grandvalira/","title":"Luxury skiing in Grandvalira: on the slopes, with a spa and fine food","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
What makes luxury skiing in Grandvalira special?
\n
Luxury skiing in Grandvalira means skiing straight from the door, having a huge ski area at your feet and ending the day in a spa and at a fine restaurant table, with no need for the car. The slopes are shared by all; the difference lies in everything else. The resort also has premium services, such as Top Class and the Mountain Club, which do change how you experience the day.
\n
Hotel Grau Roig: right on the slopes
\n
Hotel Grau Roig stands in the Grau Roig sector, right on the slopes. It is a 42-room boutique hotel listed in the MICHELIN Guide with One Key. Its history is tied to that of skiing in the area: the sector’s first lift was built beside the hotel in 1959, when it was a small mountain refuge. To find out what sleeping so close to the snow means in practice, read our article on ski-in ski-out in Andorra.
\n
A ski area to match
\n
Grandvalira was born in 2003 from the merger of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-El Tarter. According to the resort, it has 215 km, 140 runs and 7 access sectors, between 1,710 and 2,640 m in altitude. And if you want more, the wider Grandvalira Resorts group, with Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís, reaches 308 km. You will find more details in our guide to ski slopes in Andorra.
\n
The closest thing to exclusivity on the slopes
\n
Top Class
\n
Top Class is the resort’s premium service: lessons with its most qualified instructors, adapted to your level, with tools such as video analysis and individual coaching. The resort’s dossier also mentions perks such as priority lift access, changing rooms, ski storage and preferential restaurant bookings. In Grau Roig, the 2025-26 season brought a larger changing room.
\n
These services are booked directly with the resort. Check the season’s conditions and prices before booking.
\n
Grandvalira Mountain Club
\n
The Grandvalira Mountain Club is a membership scheme with VIP parking, private areas and personal service. These areas and services are reserved for members; the slopes remain open to all. If you ski many days a year, ask the resort directly.
\n
A sector for every level
\n
Grau Roig has its own personality within the ski area. Here you will find Sunrise Park Xavi, for anyone looking for jumps, and Kids Forest for the little ones, in the Coma i Piolet area. If you are travelling with children, the hotel also has a Kids Club, which gives the adults time to make the most of the morning.
\n
After skiing: spa and food
\n
Spa and wellness
\n
The hotel spa has:
\n
\n
Heated indoor pool
\n
Hot tub
\n
Sauna and Turkish bath
\n
Relaxation area, in stone and wood
\n
Fitness room with Technogym equipment
\n
\n
Entry is free for guests and the spa is open from 10.00 to 21.00; under-16s are not admitted between 15.00 and 21.00. Massages and treatments are booked separately, and the MICHELIN Guide points out that the spa is better equipped than those of many hotels of its size. If you prefer a larger thermal centre, Caldea is in Escaldes-Engordany.
\n
Food and drink
\n
The hotel brings together five dining spaces:
\n
\n
La Vaquería: traditional mountain cooking, right on the slopes. Convenient for lunch without interrupting your day.
\n
El Teatro del Vino: avant-garde cooking, in a space with 10 tables.
\n
La Marmita: classic market-led, seasonal cooking.
\n
La Fromagerie: fondues and raclettes.
\n
Secret Room: can also be booked as a private room.
\n
\n
The cellar holds more than 300 wines, cavas and champagnes, and the Copper Bar is a good spot for a nightcap. There are more options in the sector, such as La Suculenta at El Cubil and the Nandu Jubany concepts at La Vacanal, Tub and Brasserie Piolet, according to the same dossier.
\n
Activities beyond skiing
\n
If you would rather leave the skis behind for a day, the hotel’s website lists several snow activities:
\n
\n
Snowshoeing, with outings to frozen lakes.
\n
Mushing, on a dog sled through the valley.
\n
Snowmobiling, on circuits over varied terrain.
\n
Ski touring.
\n
Scenic flights and heli-skiing.
\n
\n
Ask the hotel about availability and conditions for each one before planning your days around it. The Roc Roi Adventure centre, in the same sector, is another useful contact.
\n
How to book your luxury skiing in Grandvalira
\n
Before you book
\n
\n
Choose your room: there are five categories, from Auténtica to Suite Deluxe, in different styles according to the MICHELIN Guide.
\n
Sort out your ski pass: prices vary, so see our guide to ski pass prices in Andorra.
\n
Plan your equipment: the MICHELIN Guide mentions ski hire at the hotel; ask what you need to bring and what you can leave there.
\n
Pack your case: our Glamour in the snow guide will help.
\n
\n
How to make your booking
\n
You can book on the hotel’s website, where you will see available rooms and offers. There is no need to travel around the country: in one morning in the shopping district of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, you can compare watches, fine jewellery and local labels on foot. Hotel Grau Roig, which features in the MICHELIN Guide, is a world away from all this, high in the mountains, so a shopping trip works well as a rest day between sessions on the slopes.
\n
Everything within easy reach
\n
According to Visit Andorra, most of the high-end jewellery and watch shops are on Avinguda Meritxell, part of the so-called Shopping Mile. Alongside them you will find shopping centres and department stores with multi-brand sections, multi-brand shops on the main avenues, concept stores and flagship stores of prestigious labels.
\n
Andorran brands with their own workshops
\n
If you want something you will not find in every European capital, the real interest lies in the brands born here. We cover them below: one has an international presence, another works with materials from Andorran forests, and a third receives clients by appointment.
\n
Generous opening hours
\n
Shops close on only four days a year, according to Visit Andorra: 1 January, 14 March, 8 September and 25 December. From Sunday to Thursday they open until 8 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays until 9 pm. If 14 March falls on a weekend, they stay open. These are general hours, so if you are after a specific piece, call the shop first.
\n
The best jewellers in Andorra: exclusivity and design
\n
These names have been checked against the tourist board or each brand’s official network.
\n
Jewellery labels created in Andorra
\n
\n
PdePaola. An internationally known jewellery brand born in Andorra, with a shop in the centre of Avinguda Meritxell.
\n
Som de Bosc. Organic jewellery with a workshop in Escaldes-Engordany. It makes pieces by hand using raw materials from Andorran forests, a good choice if you want to take home something truly from here.
\n
Nerea Aixas. An Andorran brand of sculptures and one-off jewellery. Its showroom is in central Andorra la Vella and can be visited by appointment.
\n
\n
Watches and official retailers
\n
If you are buying a high-end watch, always do so from an official retailer: that is what guarantees the brand’s warranty. The following appear on the brands’ own store locators:
\n
\n
Joieria Genève, at Avinguda Meritxell 124, is listed as an official Rolex retailer.
\n
Pons 1845 II – Joieria Berna, at Avinguda Meritxell 51-55, appears as an official TUDOR retailer and an authorised Bvlgari retailer.
\n
Pons 1845 III, at Avinguda Carlemany 117, is also on the TUDOR list.
\n
\n
Multi-brand jewellers away from the main avenue
\n
Visit Andorra also points to the Riberaygua i Travesseres neighbourhood in Andorra la Vella for its quality multi-brand jewellers and personal service. It is a quieter alternative to the avenue.
\n
Luxury boutiques in Andorra: where to go
\n
If you are setting aside a day for shopping, these are the essentials. For a broader overview, see our guide to shopping in Andorra.
\n
The Shopping Mile
\n
This is a 1.5 km pedestrianised stretch that runs along Avinguda Meritxell and Fener Boulevard in Andorra la Vella, continuing along Vivand and Avinguda Carlemany in Escaldes-Engordany. Most of the shops are concentrated here. It is easy to cover on foot, and along the way you can stop at the Escaldes-Engordany Art Centre.
\n
Pas de la Casa
\n
This is the nearest shopping town to Grau Roig, with a wide range of jewellers as well as shopping centres, perfumeries and sports shops. It is a good choice if you would rather not go down to the capital, or if you are skiing in this sector of Grandvalira.
\n
Concept stores and fashion
\n
Visit Andorra singles out the concept stores that belong to Andorra Selected for their creative edit. The range of brands also keeps changing: Lacoste, for example, opened its first shop in the country in 2026. If you are looking for a specific label, check its official store locator before you travel. And if you also want fragrances, see how to buy perfume in Andorra.
\n
Tips for buying from jewellers and luxury boutiques in Andorra
\n
Know the duty-free limits
\n
This is the most important point if you are returning to a European Union country. According to Visit Andorra, the allowance for industrial goods, which include jewellery and watches, is 900 euros per adult and 450 euros per person under 15. Above that amount you must declare the purchase and complete the formalities at customs. Customs offices are open 24 hours for these procedures. A piece of fine jewellery or a high-end watch can easily exceed that figure, so ask for the invoice and find out in the shop how to handle the paperwork before you pay.
\n
Before you pay
\n
\n
Ask for full documentation: invoice, the certificate for the piece if there is one, and a stamped warranty card.
\n
Check the retailer on the brand’s official store locator, especially for watches.
\n
Ask about after-sales service: where servicing is carried out and whether the warranty is valid in your country.
\n
Book ahead if you are looking for a specific reference or want to visit a showroom by appointment.
\n
\n
How to plan the day from the hotel
\n
From Grau Roig you have two options. The first is to go up to Pas de la Casa, which is the closer of the two. The second is to go down the CG-2 to Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella, where almost all the fine jewellery is. In winter, check the road conditions before setting off and avoid the time when skiers are heading back from the slopes.
\n
Shopping experiences in Andorra and the rest of the day
\n
Combine it with Caldea and good food
\n
The shopping district ends very close to Caldea, so you can round off the day at the thermal centre before heading back. If you would rather stay in the area as evening falls, take a look at our places to go out in Andorra.
\n
Back at Grau Roig
\n
When you return, the hotel spa has a sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and pool. For dinner there is La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Marmita, La Fromagerie or Secret Room, and for a drink, the Copper Bar. The hotel’s cellar holds more than 300 labels, a good excuse to toast your purchase.
\n
When to go
\n
Shops are open all year, so it is the snow, not the jewellers, that should set your dates. In winter, the high season at Grau Roig, you can keep shopping for the day when the weather is against you or your legs need a rest, and spend the rest of your stay on the Grandvalira slopes, right on the hotel’s doorstep. If you pick a specific day for Avinguda Meritxell, arrange an appointment beforehand with the showroom or shop that interests you.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"","lead":"Best jewellers in Andorra: where to buy jewellery and watches, Andorran brands, official retailers, shopping areas and duty-free limits.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"0356b8a0-a61c-59a9-88b6-c93524f86a32","path":"/en/helicopter-routes-andorra-pyrenees/","title":"Helicopter routes over the Andorran Pyrenees","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
Explore the best helicopter routes over the Andorran Pyrenees
\n
Helicopter routes over the Andorran Pyrenees are a quick way to understand the country: in 10 or 20 minutes you see how the valleys, villages, ski areas and lakes fit together, something that would take days on foot. Hotel Grau Roig, in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira, includes helicopter flights among its mountain activities. The hotel appears in the MICHELIN Guide, with one Key.
\n
The Pyrenees from another perspective
\n
Andorra is a mountain country, and you notice that from the air. Slopes fall away into the valleys, villages cluster on the floor and, above the tree line, glacial cirques and lakes appear. If you love landscape, a short flight gives you a mental map for the rest of your stay.
\n
Who flies
\n
Scenic flights leave from La Massana with operators such as Heliand, based in that parish, which runs sightseeing flights, airport transfers and on-demand charters. It also works in hard-to-reach areas and with ski resorts when needed. A professional pilot is at the controls: you just sit and look.
\n
What goes well with a flight
\n
It pairs nicely with everything else up here: the spa, the hotel’s restaurants and, depending on the season, skiing or hiking. The hotel has mountain guides who adapt routes to all levels and types of visitor, in case you feel like exploring on foot what you have just seen.
\n
A new heliport
\n
In June 2026 Andorra opened the La Caubella national heliport in La Massana, operating 24 hours a day. It measures 100 by 20 metres, with two landing zones, a hangar for seven helicopters and a passenger terminal, and it moves operations away from built-up areas. It also serves emergencies and high-mountain rescues.
\n
What can you expect from a helicopter route over the Andorran Pyrenees?
\n
A helicopter route over the Andorran Pyrenees is short and intense. It is worth knowing exactly what you are booking so that you arrive with the right expectations.
\n
Duration and route
\n
Heliand offers flights of 10, 15 or 20 minutes over La Massana, the Pal ski area and the Forçats lakes, among other places. These details are published on the activity platform Yumping. The exact route depends on the time you choose and on the conditions that day, so confirm it when booking.
\n
Seats and price
\n
The published offer is for a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 people, with exclusive use of the aircraft, starting from 660 euros. If there are only two of you, ask the operator directly what options exist. Prices may change, so confirm them before committing.
\n
What it is like on board
\n
Scenic flights require no experience at all. Follow the safety instructions you are given before boarding and use the time to look around. For photos, bring your phone or a light camera with a strap, and dark clothes if you can, as they cut reflections in the glass.
\n
What you see
\n
Peaks, valleys and lakes, with no promises beyond that. Andorra has no active glaciers to fly over, but it does have a landscape shaped by them: cirques, basins and U-shaped valleys such as the Incles valley.
\n
Tour packages: helicopter routes around Andorra
\n
There are two sensible ways to organise it: as a stand-alone flight or as part of a day’s plan. As it is brief, it leaves room for much more.
\n
A day with a morning flight
\n
Early hours usually give good light and visibility for seeing the terrain. If you book for mid-morning, you can drive down from Grau Roig to La Massana, fly and stay for lunch in the area, or carry on towards Ordino to visit the Miniature Museum.
\n
A flight and lakes on foot
\n
Another option is to see the lakes from above first and then walk to one of them. From the Grau Roig car park you can set off on the route to the Pessons lakes: 5.95 kilometres and 707 metres of ascent, calling for good fitness, or a guide if you have no mountain experience.
\n
A flight and wellness
\n
If you prefer a quieter day, head down for your flight in the morning and come back in time for the spa, open from 10 am to 9 pm, with a heated pool, hydromassage, sauna and Turkish bath. For dinner, El Teatro del Vino has a cellar of more than 300 labels.
\n
\n
Scenic flight of 10 to 20 minutes
\n
Lunch in the valley or back at the hotel
\n
An afternoon at the spa or a short walk
\n
\n
Transfers
\n
Heliand also runs on-demand flights and airport transfers. However, although La Caubella is now running, regular international commercial flights do not yet exist, as they depend on resolving border controls. For any transfer, speak to the operator.
\n
Unique experiences: tailor your helicopter route over the Pyrenees
\n
Tailoring a helicopter route means, in practice, talking to the operator about what you want to see and how much time you have. These are the questions worth asking.
\n
What to ask for
\n
If you are interested in something specific, say so when booking: the Pal sector, the Forçats lakes, a ski area or the overall lie of the land. The pilot will decide according to air traffic and weather, and a good operator will tell you frankly what is feasible in the minutes you have paid for.
\n
Itineraries and rules
\n
Andorra is a small country and routes follow aviation rules. Twenty minutes is plenty for scenery, but not for landing wherever you please: landings away from a heliport are not something to take for granted. If you want something out of the ordinary, ask first.
\n
Winter: flying over the snow
\n
From November to April, the country looks different. The hotel’s website mentions scenic flights over the principality and heli-skiing among its snow experiences, for off-piste descents from a Pyrenean summit. If you ski to a good standard, read our article on heli-skiing in Andorra. On clear days, seeing the Grandvalira slopes and the snowy peaks from the air is another way to grasp its 215 kilometres of pistes.
\n
Other high-altitude activities
\n
If you like heights but prefer your feet on the ground, the hotel’s website also lists via ferrata, climbing and outings with mountain guides, including nights in mountain huts. And in summer, a stay right on the slopes becomes a very convenient starting point for setting out on foot.
\n
Practical tips for your first helicopter route over the Andorran Pyrenees
\n
If this is your first flight, these tips will help you get the most from it.
\n
Book ahead and stay flexible
\n
Contact the operator in advance. Heliand can be reached on (+376) 737 271 and at heliand@heliand.com. Ask for the exact departure point and what happens if the weather forces a cancellation. In the mountains, weather changes fast.
\n
Choose the day well
\n
Check the forecast at meteo.ad. A clear day makes all the difference. And if you are coming by car in winter, look at mobilitat.ad before heading down too: from 1 November to 15 May, special equipment is compulsory on the entire road network.
\n
What to bring
\n
Comfortable layers, closed shoes and sunglasses. Ask the operator about weight and luggage limits, especially if you are carrying a rucksack or ski gear. The platform listing the offer gives no minimum age or maximum weight.
\n
Safety
\n
Before boarding, listen to the pilot’s instructions and follow them to the letter, especially when approaching or leaving the aircraft. Hold on to caps and scarves, and do not move around the landing area unless you are told to.
\n
Photos
\n
Bring your camera or phone fully charged and have it ready before take-off. Avoid the flash and hold the lens close to the glass to reduce reflections. On such a short flight, it is also worth putting the phone away for a while and simply looking.
\n
Afterwards
\n
Back at the hotel, you can book one of the massages at the spa or simply have a drink at the Copper Bar and go through the day’s photos.
\n","categories":[{"id":"01807db2-6c8f-5641-a80b-77b94f7ec34e","name":"luxury","slug":"luxury","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"Real scenic flights: operators, duration and practical tips","lead":"Helicopter routes over the Andorran Pyrenees: scenic flights from La Massana, duration, seats and tips for your first flight.","featuredMedia":null,"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"49dcbddf-9e0c-5648-8d30-d21942cc96e9","path":"/en/fishing-in-andorra/","title":"Fishing in Andorra: species, areas, permits and rules","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
Andorra has cold rivers, high mountain torrents and lakes you can only reach on foot. If you like fishing and spending the day out in nature, you will find trout and scenery here in equal measure, along with clear rules that are worth reading before you set up your rod. Here is what you can catch, where to fish and what you need to stay on the right side of the regulations.
\n
Fish species in Andorra
\n
The star is the brown trout (Salmo trutta fario), native to the country and the species that defines fishing in Andorran rivers. It is quick and wary, and it forces you to approach every pool with care.
\n
The brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) lives in the high mountain lakes, so finding it takes a proper walk. That effort is part of the appeal: you will reach places you never see from the road.
\n
Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is fished in Lake Engolasters, one of the waters that opens earliest each season.
\n
Where to fish in Andorra
\n
The country divides its waters into 15 controlled fishing areas, 2 intensive fishing areas, 1 catch-and-keep reserve and 11 catch-and-release reserves, spread across Andorra la Vella, Canillo, Encamp, La Massana and Ordino. Not all waters follow the same rules, so check those for your stretch before you start.
\n
Rivers
\n
The Valira del Nord and the Valira d’Orient are the backbone of river fishing, each with its own stretch: the first runs between the confluence with the Arinsal river and the Gran Valira; the second, between the confluence with the Forn river and the Gran Valira. Where the two meet, the Gran Valira begins, and it has a catch-and-release stretch where every fish goes back into the water alive.
\n
The Principality also has smaller, more mountainous watercourses, such as the Madriu, Incles, Ransol, Os and Arinsal rivers. If you want to get to know these valleys even without a rod, the Madriu valley and the Incles valley are each worth a full day.
\n
High mountain torrents
\n
The torrents that run down from cirques such as Pessons or Tristaina offer cold-water fishing, short currents and precise casting. Before you go, check the regulations to confirm the stretch is open, as some waters are reserves or come with special conditions.
\n
High mountain lakes
\n
Some Andorran lakes sit above 2,000 metres and are reached by footpath, so you will need strong legs and a willingness to walk. The reward is fishing in a high mountain setting that is very hard to match. If you are still choosing where to go, our guides to Andorra’s glacial lakes and the Pessons lakes will help you get your bearings.
\n
Lake Engolasters is the easiest option for rainbow trout. And there is one lake designed with families in mind: Lake Cubil, where under-14s can fish with their family or a specialist guide. It lies next to the Grau Roig sector, so it is ideal if you are staying at Hotel Grau Roig, which features in the MICHELIN Guide.
\n
What you need to know about fishing in Andorra
\n
Fishing is tightly regulated in the Principality and closely monitored by the authorities. These are the details published for the 2026 season. The definitive version is the ministerial order in the BOPA, the official gazette, so check it before you head out.
\n
2026 season
\n
\n
14 March: Lake Engolasters and the catch-and-release stretch of the Gran Valira open.
\n
4 April: the remaining rivers and river stretches open.
\n
6 June: lakes and other still waters open.
\n
Closing: varies by area. Some stretches of the Gran Valira close on 15 November.
\n
\n
Early in the season it is cold and fishing is slower. Catches tend to pick up from late June.
\n
Permits
\n
You need a fishing permit, which is personal and non-transferable. A full-season permit costs €150 for non-residents and €64 for residents under 65. If you are only visiting for a few days, there are one-day and three-day tourist permits, plus options for catch-and-release areas; you apply for them online on the Government of Andorra website.
\n
Physical licences are no longer issued: your proof is the payment receipt, which you must carry with you. Renewal is done through e-Tràmits with an electronic certificate, or in person at the Government’s Procedures Section in Andorra la Vella or at the parish offices.
\n
Sizes and catch limits
\n
\n
Designated stretches of the Valira del Nord and Valira d’Orient: minimum size 30 cm and up to 8 fish a day.
\n
All other areas: minimum size 20 cm and a maximum of 2 fish a day.
\n
Catch and release: all fish are returned alive.
\n
\n
Any fish under the minimum size goes back into the water.
\n
Other rules worth knowing
\n
\n
Fishing is by rod only and in daylight, between sunrise and sunset.
\n
Live or dead fish, fish roe and cheese are banned as bait.
\n
Fish caught in public waters may not be sold.
\n
Frogs require a specific permit, may only be caught by hand and are limited to 24 per angler per day.
\n
\n
Breaking these rules can lead to fines, and fishing in a protected reserve or with nets counts as a serious or very serious offence.
\n
What to bring on a fishing day
\n
Mornings at the high lakes are cold even in summer, so bring warm clothing, a hat and gloves, and hiking boots. If you fly fish, Visit Andorra recommends a single-handed rod of around 10 feet for 3 to 5 weight lines and, in summer, dry flies in natural colours such as green, brown, black or maroon.
\n
Fishing and hiking: the complete day out
\n
Many fishing spots require a walk, so you can turn the day into a full hike and discover corners you would otherwise miss. You will find ideas in our selection of hiking routes in Andorra.
\n
It works very well with children: they learn to find their way among trees, rivers and waterfalls, and the day ends with a picnic on the bank. If you would rather not prepare anything, the hotel lists a picnic among its summer activities; ask about availability when you book.
\n
Andorra outside the fishing season
\n
In the depths of winter the lakes and most of the rivers are closed to fishing, but the mountains remain in full swing. From November to April the main season is skiing: take a look at our ski slopes, or try snowshoeing if you prefer a quieter pace.
\n","categories":[{"id":"425a3962-c27d-569c-ae7b-a85f0e6bb381","name":"Adventure","slug":"adventure","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"Trout, mountain rivers and high-altitude lakes in the Principality","lead":"Fishing in Andorra: species, areas, permits and 2026 rules for catching trout in the rivers and high mountain lakes of the Principality.","featuredMedia":{"altText":"","sourceUrl":"https://admin.hotelgrauroig.com/content/uploads/2019/12/pesca-andorra.jpg","localFile":{"childImageSharp":{"croppedSizes":{"aspectRatio":1.3274336283185841,"src":"/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/a3e80/pesca-andorra.jpg","srcSet":"/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/f2477/pesca-andorra.jpg 150w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/eb94d/pesca-andorra.jpg 300w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/a3e80/pesca-andorra.jpg 600w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/2f1e0/pesca-andorra.jpg 900w","sizes":"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px"},"croppedSizesDuotone":{"aspectRatio":1.3274336283185841,"src":"/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/5c485/pesca-andorra.jpg","srcSet":"/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/464df/pesca-andorra.jpg 150w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/4f3d6/pesca-andorra.jpg 300w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/5c485/pesca-andorra.jpg 600w,\n/static/1b78b66aca9593d2fd695aba7e78949d/a6ba0/pesca-andorra.jpg 900w","sizes":"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px"}}}},"isFeatured":"no"}}},{"node":{"id":"1a87f29b-2d02-5b93-a3b7-dc34df7d3684","path":"/en/stargazing-andorra/","title":"Stargazing in Andorra: Starlight skies, viewpoints and winter outings","date":"02 November 2026","content":"
What makes Andorra a good place for stargazing?
\n
Andorra lends itself to stargazing for three reasons: altitude, narrow valleys and a small population. This is a mountain country of small and medium-sized villages, and you notice it as soon as you leave the urban stretch of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. The best-documented area is La Massana, whose Andorra Comapedrosa Starlight project holds the Starlight Foundation’s double certification as both a Reserve and a Tourist Destination. According to the newspaper Alto Andorra, only around twenty regions worldwide share that double distinction.
\n
If you stay at Hotel Grau Roig, which features in the MICHELIN Guide, you sleep above 2,000 metres, at the opposite end of the country from La Massana. That gives you two options: look at the sky on your own around Grau Roig, or book a guided night on the other side of Andorra.
\n
What the Starlight label means
\n
The certification recognises the quality of the night sky and the work done to protect it, but it also requires something for visitors. In La Massana that means signposted viewpoints, guides and Starlight instructors, seasonal activities and workshops. It is the best place to start if this is your first time, because you need no astronomy knowledge and no equipment.
\n
What you can see with the naked eye
\n
On a clear, moonless night you will see far more than you might expect without a telescope. The La Massana outings focus on exactly that: naked-eye observation, constellations and their mythology, the best time of year for each one, and sky maps. There is no age limit, so it works well for families.
\n
The best places in Andorra for an astronomy trip
\n
These are the night-sky spots listed by Andorra’s tourist board, all of them in the parish of La Massana.
\n
Roca de la Sabina viewpoint, Arinsal
\n
It sits at kilometre 4 of the CS-520 road, at an altitude of 1,896 metres. Its design allows access for people with reduced mobility, and it includes information in Braille, tactile reliefs and QR codes with audio and sign language. By day it looks towards the avalanche path that caused serious damage in Arinsal in 1996.
\n
Coll de la Botella, Pal
\n
This is the starting point for guided activities in both winter and summer. If you join a snowshoe outing or a summer session, you will most likely end up here. The Vallnord area also has other ideas to make the most of the trip during the day.
\n
Comapedrosa Natural Park
\n
Visit Andorra also mentions it as a good place to look at the sky. This is high-mountain terrain, so only go if you know the way back in the dark and carry the right equipment.
\n
Near Grau Roig
\n
You do not need to cross the country for a first look at the sky. Choose a clear night, wrap up warm and move away from the lights of the buildings. By day, the Pessons lakes are the classic walk from here, and the photography routes around Andorra will help you find good landscape compositions. At night, do not head into the mountains without a guide.
\n
Tips and equipment for stargazing in Andorra
\n
You do not need a telescope to enjoy a good night. You do need to plan it a little.
\n
Choose your date carefully
\n
\n
Check the Moon phase. The nights around the new Moon are the darkest. A full Moon wipes out many faint stars and almost all of the Milky Way.
\n
Check the forecast. Mountain weather changes quickly, so look at high cloud and wind as well.
\n
Note the meteor showers. The Quadrantids (early January), the Perseids (around 12 August) and the Geminids (around 14 December) are the three most active of the year.
\n
\n
What to bring
\n
\n
Layers. At altitude it gets cold at night, even in summer. For summer outings, the organisers recommend suitable footwear and clothing, plus a blanket to sit or lie on.
\n
A red-light torch. White light ruins your eyes’ adaptation to the dark, which takes between 20 and 30 minutes.
\n
A star map app in night mode, and as little phone use as possible.
\n
Binoculars, if you have them. They are easier to use than a telescope and work very well for star clusters and the Moon.
\n
\n
If you want to take photos
\n
The La Massana photographers’ association (AFVAN) runs astrophotography workshops with expert photographers, who teach night photography techniques along the parish’s astronomical paths. You will need a tripod and a camera that allows long exposures.
\n
Astronomy events and themed nights in Andorra
\n
Snowshoeing under the stars in winter
\n
Winter is the high season at Grau Roig, and it has its own astronomical outing too. From 1 December, on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays, there is a night-time snowshoe outing from Coll de la Botella: you learn to use the snowshoes and then observe the sky. Book with Màgic Experience on (+376) 355 131 or at info@magicexperience.com. If you enjoy the format, take a look at other snowshoe routes in Andorra.
\n
Summer outings
\n
From July to September there are stargazing outings in the Coll de la Botella area. They are led by professional guides and Starlight instructors, and you can also arrange a tailor-made experience with astronomy guides.
\n
Andorra Comapedrosa Astronomy Festival
\n
It takes place in June in Arinsal. The 2026 edition, the fourth, ran from 12 to 14 June and was extended to three nights. It included a lights-out in the village on the Friday, naked-eye sessions from 11 pm, six automated telescopes for viewing galaxies and nebulae, talks, children’s workshops and cosmic-themed menus in local restaurants. The programme is published in the La Massana events calendar.
\n
Starlight Meetings in 2027
\n
Andorra Comapedrosa will host the International Starlight Astrotourism Meetings in 2027. If your interest in astrotourism goes beyond a single night, make a note of it.
\n
Recommended accommodation and services for astronomy lovers in Andorra
\n
How to plan the night from Grau Roig
\n
The drive is the key point. From Grau Roig, follow the CG-2 down towards Encamp and Escaldes-Engordany, then take the CG-3 up towards La Massana. You will be returning in the small hours on mountain roads, so do not improvise: in winter, check the state of Andorra’s roads first and make sure the car is ready for snow. For bookings or information, the La Massana Tourist Office is available on (+376) 835 693 and at turisme@comumassana.ad.
\n
Before and after looking at the sky
\n
A night of stargazing goes well with a quiet day. The hotel spa has a sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and pool, just what you need after the cold, and for dinner before you set off there is La Vaquería, El Teatro del Vino, La Marmita or La Fromagerie. If you come during the ski season, you can spend the morning on the Grandvalira slopes and keep Friday or Saturday night for the snowshoe outing. And if the sky does not cooperate, things to do in Andorra has alternatives for the rest of your stay.
\n","categories":[{"id":"0e8c2633-22cd-52a4-8bfe-e028a5ba997f","name":"Culture","slug":"culture","parentElement":null},{"id":"425a3962-c27d-569c-ae7b-a85f0e6bb381","name":"Adventure","slug":"adventure","parentElement":null}],"acf":{"subtitle":"","lead":"Stargazing
